If Only
Alex (Jason Pierce) is home visiting his father and stepmother (Mona Wales) for the first time in about six months. While Mona is overjoyed to see him again, Alex is wary because of the tawdry encounter they shared before he moved away. With "If Only," longtime collaborators Ricky Greenwood (from the director's chair) and Maddy Barton (from the writer's room) once again bring a sordid tale of forbidden lust to life from the taboo MissaX studio. These two work very well together, and the results are usually good. The fauxcest trope is in full effect here, with Mona playing the horny stepmom and Pierce taking on the role of the innocent. It's an old tale, but Mona is the perfect person to bring it some fresh life. She's vulnerable rather than conniving, and passionate rather than lustful. Her character makes the story work on a level beyond the standard stepmom kink because it's clear that her feelings for Alex go beyond the physical. The true story is the fact that she actually loves her stepson, and sex with him is an intimate connection rather than a cougar getting off on some young meat. Meanwhile, the tragedy is that Alex feels like a young man confusing lust with love. He certainly loves fucking Mona, and he thinks that translates to real love. But his heart just isn't in it in the same way. On some level, Mona likely recognizes this, but the prospect of having him in any capacity is better than not. So she ignores it. The subtlety of the narrative makes the sex more emotional than other films I've seen in this genre.
Speaking of the sex, Mona continues to show why she's long been one of my favorite performers. The woman is just so ethereal, and watching her get pumped is incredibly arousing. When she talks dirty, it's hungry and desperate, but she still somehow manages to be coy and lady-like. When she rocks her hips into his hammering thrusts, there's a gentleness about her that makes her feel like the mom next door who would just as soon bake cookies as take a pounding in bed. When she mounts Alex, it's with an excruciating slowness because she wants to enjoy every inch of him filling her up.
